How many people know what different sushi from rolls? After all, in this and the other dish that came to us from Japan - the same rice, the same fish (or seafood). And yet there are differences, despite the fact that the rolls are the same sushi, but they look a little different. Today these are different dishes, and they have different tastes, and the fillings are different, and they are served in Japanese restaurants popular all over the world, in different ways.

Who has not heard of sushi (more correctly still sushi),a traditional dish from Japan, which has a rich history? Its main ingredients are seafood and rice. Classics of land - a dense rice cake, on which lies a slice of fish (fresh - this is the condition). This is the dish of the Japanese poor, who thus from a long time preserved the fish. Already something, and these products in Japan were always accessible even to the lowest strata of the population.

How did they cook sushi in those early days? Rice pressed the palms into a small oblong cake, fresh fish was laid on it, seasoned with wasabi (with a spicy sauce). Then all this was pulled by a thin ribbon from seaweed or twisted into it. Algae was usually taken by nori, but it was possible in another. Rice was once thrown out, as it was only a tool for preserving fish, but now it is used along with the filling.

Today this dish has many kinds - it'srolls (makizushi), and osdzushi, and gunkan-maki, and others. So what is the difference between sushi and rolls? It seems that this is the same dish, at least, the rolls originated from sushi. Simply the second became the starting point for the appearance of the first. Sushi is a classic, and rolls are a more modern version of them.

So, sushi is a piece of fresh fish, wrappedin rice and hand-tied nori. And rolls is a roll of rice, which is wrapped up with some filling (not just fish) and which is twisted with a mat of bamboo. Nori can be both inside the roll and on top of it.

The second difference between sushi and rolls is diversityfillings in the last. In the land, the filling is always from seafood (algae, fresh fish, caviar, etc.), but in rolls it can be fruits, meat, cheese, vegetables, and other ingredients, and sometimes even a mixture of two or more combined products.

What is the difference between sushi and rolls? The first is always eaten with the help of chopsticks, whereas some types of rolls can be eaten by hands, such as teemakizushi.

Sometimes, when visiting a Japanese restaurant, we order sushi, and bring us rolls, without making any difference at all. How not to get trapped? What are sushi different from rolls, because they look so similar?

For those who have not yet learned the differences between dishes, we repeat that sushi is a lump of rice, on which a piece of fish is placed on top. All this is tied with seaweed (nori).

Rolls are a long puff bar. In them first comes the nori sheet, on which rice is laid, seafood is placed on it, then other products, for example, cucumber or avocado. Everything is carefully rolled up (in specialized restaurants using a bamboo mat) into one thick bar, which is then cut into six pieces. The composition of the products may be different, one remains unchanged-equal rolls of rolls.
